Fantasie und Mut sind dann n\u00f6tig, wenn man dennoch reisen will. Beispielsweise als Anhalter in die Karibik zu segeln. Deshalb versammeln sich in der Zeit vor der ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), der gr\u00f6\u00dften Segelrallye der Welt, alle m\u00f6glichen Optimisten in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria um ein Schiff nach St. Lucia zu ergattern.<\/p>\n<p>Ende Oktober, Anfang November spazieren immer mehr Leute mit Rucksack durch die Marina. In den Bars und an W\u00e4nden finden sich Zettel, die George, David oder Lucy als das perfekte Crewmitglied anpreisen. \u201eCrew available\u201c soll unterbesetzte Skipper anlocken.<\/p>\n<p>Dieser Weg braucht Abenteuerlust und Freude am Segeln. G\u00fcnstiger ist Segel-Hitchhikern nicht wirklich. Die Erwartung ist, als Mitsegler an Bord Arbeiten zu erledigen und Wachdienste zu \u00fcbernehmen um dann nichts f\u00fcr die Passage zu bezahlen. \u201eNichts\u201c bedeutet bei der ARC aber immer noch eine Startgeb\u00fchr um die 250 \u20ac pro Teilnehmer. Dazu kommt auch noch ein Beitrag f\u00fcr die Verpflegung, denn w\u00e4hrend der 3 Wochen ist essen und trinken recht hilfreich. Da es in der ARC auch Profis gibt, die ihre Kojen gegen Geb\u00fchr an Mitsegler verkaufen, fallen die weg. Es bleiben dann noch die Schiffe, die im Windschatten der ARC, aber nicht als Teilnehmer, \u00fcber den Atlantik segeln. Wenn man alles zusammenrechnet was nicht unvermeidlich ist, dann ist der Flug in die Karibik oder S\u00fcdamerika gar nicht mal viel teurer.<\/p>\n<h2>Crew available<\/h2>\n<p>Vor unserem Steg hat seit Tagen Lukas aus Polen einen Platz auf dem Gehweg okkupiert. Mutig quatscht er alle Segler an, ob sie nicht irgendwelche Jobs f\u00fcr ihn h\u00e4tten. Und nat\u00fcrlich auch, ob sie ihn nicht mitnehmen w\u00fcrden, nach St. Lucia.<\/p>\n<p>Die Attraktivit\u00e4t eines Crew Mitglieds steigt naturgem\u00e4\u00df, mit seinen F\u00e4higkeiten. Wer eine beeindruckende Segelvita anzubieten hat, liegt nat\u00fcrlich klar vor dem Gitarre spielenden Anf\u00e4nger mit Sp\u00fclh\u00e4nden. Und die Sympathie ist ja auch noch von gro\u00dfer Bedeutung, wenn man 2-3 Wochen gemeinsam auf \u00fcbersichtlichem Raum verbringt.<\/p>\n<p>Die meisten der \u00fcblicherweise 270 Schiffe haben ihre Crews schon klar, wenn sie in Las Palmas ankommen. Aber der ein oder andere f\u00e4llt immer mal wieder raus und bei knapp \u00fcber 1.000 Seglern wird auch mal ein Platz frei. Dann muss man zur richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort sein und dann kann es klappen, mit dem Hitchhiken.<\/p>\n<p>Nun ist 2020 aber kein normales Jahr. Corona macht es f\u00fcr Lukas &#038; Co. sehr schwierig. Das Angebot ist extrem viel kleiner als in den normalen Jahren: weniger als ein Drittel der \u00fcblichen \u00a0Schiffe wollen in diesem Jahr in die Karibik. Und mein Eindruck ist, das auch sehr wenige individuell \u201er\u00fcber\u201c wollen.<\/p>\n<p>Und dann ist das noch das ARC C19 Protokoll, dass ganz neue Anforderungen stellt und ein Zusteigen au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlich erschwert. Die Crews m\u00fcssen eine Woche vor dem Start zusammen sein. Von Besuchen an Bord wird dringend abgeraten und alle halten deutlichen Abstand in der Marina. Ein paar Tage vor dem Ablegen gibt es einen verpflichtenden Corona Test, ohne den die Kapverden und St. Lucia verschlossen bleiben.<\/p>\n<p>Die gesamte Crew muss negativ sein, sonst darf das Schiff nicht starten. Kein kleines Risiko, wenn man einen Fremden aufnimmt. Zudem muss der Corona Test auch noch bezahlt werden und der ist um die 120 \u20ac auch kein Schn\u00e4ppchen. Und pl\u00f6tzlich wird das Flugticket \u00fcber den Atlantik immer attraktiver.<\/p>\n<p>Das alles macht es f\u00fcr Lukas noch abenteuerlicher. Einer der wenigen positiven Aspekte ist, das sein Wettbewerb geringer ist als sonst.
